Drying Flowers and Autumn Wreath

with Bex Partridge of Botanical Tales

Friday 4 October 2024

10am - 4pm (arrive at 9.30 for coffee/tea)

£130

Group Size - 10 people

Learn the art of drying flowers, seedheads and foliage with artist, grower and writer Bex Partridge. We will explore the plant material within the garden at Damson Farm as well as the surrounding area to assess those that can be dried well and preserved for future creations. She will go through optimal picking times as well as the best methods to dry materials for optimal colour and structure.

Bex will show us, through materials she has dried herself, the expansive possibilities of drying with botanicals, opening our eyes to a world beyond the well known flowers such as statice and strawflowers to include many perennials and even ‘weeds’.

Bex will then lead a creative session in which you will make a seasonal everlasting wreath, built upon a naturally woven vine base and filled with the very best of the Autumn season's bounty. The wreath will be yours to take home.

Bex is a floral artist specialising in working with dried flowers. She lives in the lush green hills of East Devon, where she grows and dries much of what she works with on her half an acre garden plot. Bex is passionate about working in harmony with the natural world and there is a strong focus on sustainability in the way she both grows and creates. Bex is continually pushing the boundaries of dried flowers and the way they are perceived by others and is on a mission to make them common place in all our homes and minds.

Bex has written two books on the subject of drying flowers, Everlastings and Flowers Forever, and creates long lasting installations for peoples homes and work spaces.
